Tradition Renewed

Mercury details expanded July 4th program

New OFFICIAL website

With that, this, the second website of Independence Day, Ltd. has completed its’ function.  This has served as the committee’s sole communication source, kept the brand alive and spurred new interest.

To our readers, thank you.  Any good that has been accomplished here was for the benefit of the good people of Pottstown and Vicinity.

To the committee and its new partners:  you have inherited a tradition you did not build.  You are charged with staging a celebration of the Founding of the United States of America.  This generation needs a lesson in civic duty, and you have a great opportunity.  Cherish it.

The Show Will Go On

Pottstown Borough Council Wednesday night discussed billing the committee an additional $5,000.00 for police overtime.

We appreciate the heads up from the Mercury, (click for the story) and look forward to a solution that will maintain the security of the event, help the Borough budget, and be sustainable given the committee’s fundraising history.  Latest story is here.

UPDATE: The City Council of Philadelphia voted to “emancipate” it’s parade committees from police bills.  For details visit:
