Many harken back…

Many harken back to the former times of prosperity in Pottstown and offer no solution for the present, according to Sparagana.

“The Pottstown of 40 years ago isn’t existing anymore,” Sparagana said. “So we have to take from what we have learned in that period and take the benefits of what have come from that period and move forward in the 21st century. And some people don’t want to do that. They become apathetic because of it.”

Township Police Will Assist On An ‘Explosive’ Night

SANATOGA PA – When July 4 (2014; Friday) fireworks go boom-boom-booming above the heads of thousands of area residents gathered to see them at Waltz’s Golf Farm, 303 W. Ridge Pike., Limerick, a contingent of Lower Pottsgrove police officers will be among those on hand to ensure the expectedly explosive night remains otherwise peaceful and orderly.

The township Board of Commissioners has authorized officers of its department to again assist Limerick police that night in dealing with the mass of people and vehicles that assembles around Waltz’s to celebrate Independence Day. The family-operated entertainment and sports complex sponsors a fireworks show each year, and the viewing audience has become larger as fireworks have been discontinued in other municipalities.

“It’s a large crowd with heavy traffic, and that’s where we’ll be needed,” Lower Pottsgrove Chief Michael Foltz told commissioners, in explaining he wanted to agree to the assistance request made by Limerick Chief William Albany. Board members unanimously concurred during their May 22 meeting.

Fire police volunteers from the Sanatoga and Ringing Hill companies also will render assistance, Foltz said.
